Where the line is drawn

There is no single legal definition, and in most charter markets the word is used loosely. On this site the line is 92 feet, drawn there for a practical reason rather than a marketing one: above that length a yacht carries a crew with an engineer among them, cabins for eight or more with private bathrooms, and a draft deep enough to change which anchorages are usable. Seven yachts in the catalogue are on that side of the line, from 92 to 170 feet, starting at ฿350,000 a day.

Everything shorter is a luxury yacht or a motor yacht and has its own page, including all three of our yachts: Ferretti 80 Sofia at 80 feet, Beluga 88 at 88 and Technema 89 Say Yes at 89. One exception is worth naming: Aventure, the only sailing yacht in the catalogue, measures 29 metres and would clear this line on length alone, but she is a classic ketch chartered on multi-day itineraries only and is compared with the sailing boats rather than here.

The seven yachts

Major Affair from ฿377,000 is a 92-foot Sunseeker with a crew of five to six including an engineer, and a flat day rate across six routes rather than a price per destination. Astondoa 102 from ฿390,000 takes twenty-five guests by day and eight overnight, with an office on the main deck and a crew of six. Bilgin 98 from ฿400,000 is Turkish-built, with two full-beam master cabins among its four and a sundeck arranged around a jacuzzi and bar.

Falcon 106 from ฿400,000 has five cabins — a master, two VIP staterooms and two twins — and sleeps ten in proper cabins. Song of Songs from USD 37,500 (all-inclusive packages) is 139 feet, six cabins, twelve overnight guests and a crew of eight to ten.

Sea Bear from ฿350,000 is a 130-foot Westport refitted in 2025: five cabins for ten overnight guests, a crew of seven and up to forty guests by day, with a slide, a floating pool and a jet ski included.

Vanora from ฿481,500 is the longest yacht in the catalogue at 170 feet — a liveaboard with eleven cabins for twenty-two overnight guests and up to eighty by day.

Crew, and what a week aboard looks like

Crews run from five to ten people with defined roles, and the difference becomes obvious on the second or third day rather than the first. Someone is responsible for the machinery rather than the service, which is what keeps a multi-day itinerary on schedule — a yacht of this age and size does not run a week without one. Meals are cooked aboard where the programme includes a chef.

Tenders, water toys and the next anchorage are handled without anyone in your group deciding anything. On a single day much of this is invisible; over a week it is the entire proposition, which is why these seven are booked for several nights far more often than for an afternoon.

Where a yacht this size can and cannot go

Draft and length limit the anchorages, and this is the constraint that surprises guests most. A yacht of ninety-two feet and more does not tuck into the small bays behind the limestone that a forty-foot catamaran uses, and it does not come alongside every pier: boarding is sometimes by tender, arranged in advance. The itinerary is therefore planned around the vessel, through the sheltered water of Phang Nga Bay, the Koh Yao islands, the Krabi side, and longer passages into the Andaman Sea.

Six of the seven run from Ao Po Grand Marina; Astondoa 102 is based at Royal Phuket Marina. If reaching one specific small anchorage is the point of the trip, a smaller boat serves you better and we will say so.

Two pricing models

Five of the seven are quoted like the rest of the fleet: a day rate that moves with season and route, fuel included in the published figure. Vanora's rate, fuel included too, depends only on the format — half day, full day or overnight — and is the same all year. Major Affair is the useful case for a group that has not decided on a destination, because her rate is flat across six routes — Phi Phi costs the same as a bay day, so the choice is made on the morning by weather rather than by budget. Song of Songs is the exception and can be chartered two ways, as an all-inclusive package covering a day or a night aboard with food, drinks and water toys, or on a per-night basis with tax and a provisioning allowance added separately. Sea Bear also has a weekly rate in US dollars: from USD 95,000, with 25% APA on top. Which costs less depends on how long you are aboard, and the manager will run both figures for your dates.

Lead time and booking

Seven yachts is a small pool, and in high season the dates go early. For a week-long itinerary plan months rather than weeks ahead, particularly around the peak from 20 December. A 50% deposit confirms a booking and the balance is paid on the day of the charter; cancellation thirty days or more before the date returns the deposit in full, twenty-nine days or less does not.
