Yacht Management in Phuket by an Owner-Operator
Horizon Cruises Phuket manages yachts for owners the same way we run our own three: Technema 89 "Say Yes", Beluga 88 and Ferretti 80 "Sofia" work in charter under our care year-round. We take over the technical side, the crew, the paperwork and the charter bookings, and you receive a monthly report and a share of the charter income. Twelve years in Phuket, 2,400 completed charters, a team of sixteen — and we speak Russian, English and Thai.
What does yacht management include?
We cover everything a yacht needs to stay in good condition and earn while you are away. The six blocks below are the same ones you will find at any professional management company — the difference is that we run them on our own boats every day.
Charter placement. Your yacht joins our charter catalogue of 60+ boats on a two-language website and our existing booking channels. We handle enquiries, bookings, guest communication, payments and cancellations. The yacht earns from the first season without you building a marketing operation from scratch.
Technical management and repairs. Scheduled maintenance, engine and generator servicing, electrical and plumbing systems, air-conditioning, hull cleaning and antifouling, repairs when something breaks — planned, supervised and documented. We work with yards and specialists we already use for our own fleet.
Crew. Captain and crew selection, employment contracts, work permits, payroll and day-to-day supervision. Our own yachts run with permanent crews; yours gets the same standard.
Berth, suppliers and logistics. Marina contracts and payments, fuel, provisioning, spare parts, haul-outs. One point of contact instead of a dozen.
Documents and compliance. Thai registration and licences, insurance renewals, safety equipment inspections, customs and port formalities. We track the deadlines so nothing lapses.
Financial reporting. A monthly statement: charter income, every expense with invoices, upcoming maintenance. You always know what the yacht earned and what it cost.
How does it work?
- Inspection. We look at the yacht, its systems and documents, and tell you honestly what it needs before it can take guests.
- Agreement. A management contract in Russian or English: scope, reporting, the income share, the exit terms.
- Preparation. Any work the inspection showed, crew, licences, photographs and a listing on our site.
- Operation. The yacht takes charters; we run everything on board and ashore.
- Reporting. Monthly statement and a call whenever you want one.
Which yachts do we take?
Motor yachts, sailing yachts, power and sailing catamarans from 45 ft. The yacht should be in a condition to take guests, or we agree on the work to get it there. We manage a small number of yachts at a time so that each one gets the same attention as our own.
Where will the yacht be based?
In your marina. We work across Phuket's marinas and at Chalong, where our own yachts depart from. If you have not chosen a berth yet, we will recommend one for your yacht's size and the routes it will run. An overview of the island's marinas is in our article where yachts depart from in Phuket.
How much does it cost?
We work on a share of the charter income, so our interest is the same as yours: the yacht should be booked and in good order. There is no monthly management fee that has to be paid whether the yacht earns or not. The exact terms depend on the yacht, its age and how many weeks a year it will be available for charter — ask, and we will send a proposal within two working days.
Why do Russian-speaking owners choose us?
Because the contract, the reports, the calls and the arguments about a generator are all in your language. Of the management companies working in Phuket today, we are the only one where the owner deals with a Russian-speaking team from the first meeting to the monthly statement. English and Thai are there too — for the crew, the marina and the authorities.
How does a yacht under our management look?
The three yachts below are ours. They are the standard we keep.
- Technema 89 "Say Yes" — 89 ft, refit 2023, up to 30 day guests, from ฿100,000 per day.
- Beluga 88 — 88 ft, renovated 2026, up to 22 day guests, from ฿214,000 per day.
- Ferretti 80 "Sofia" — 80 ft, refit 2022, up to 25 day guests.
Owners' questions
Can I still use my yacht myself?
Yes. Owner's weeks are written into the contract and blocked in the calendar before the season opens.
Who pays for repairs?
Routine maintenance and consumables come out of charter income and are shown in the monthly statement. Larger repairs are agreed with you in advance, with a quote.
What if the yacht is not in charter condition yet?
The inspection produces a list and an estimate. You decide what to do and when; we supervise the work.
How quickly will the yacht start earning?
Depends on the yacht's condition and the season. Peak demand in Phuket is December to March; a yacht listed by October is usually booked for the high season.
Do you take yachts under 45 ft?
Not at the moment. For smaller boats we can recommend a partner.
How do I stop?
On the notice period written in the contract. The yacht, its documents and the accounts are handed back in order.

Yacht Speed: Cruising Speed by Yacht Type
Average yacht speed is not one fixed number. A cruising sailing yacht may travel at roughly 5–8 knots in ordinary conditions, a displacement motor yacht may cruise around 8–12 knots, and many planing motor yachts are designed to cruise near 20–30 knots. Individual vessels can sit well outside those broad planning ranges. The useful answer…
