The marina sits roughly in the middle of the island's east side, so the drive is similar from most places guests stay. From the airport it is about half an hour. From Patong, also about half an hour across the island. From Phuket Town it is the shortest hop of the three — a little over twenty minutes. Traffic on Phuket moves differently every day, so treat these as guides rather than a timetable.

What is on site

Parking is underground, which is the practical difference between this marina and the other three we work with.

There is a waterfront with restaurants and bars. BLUU — Asian Kitchen & Bar and the SOLAVITA cafe are both on site, so a party that arrives early has somewhere to sit rather than stand on a quay. Wi-Fi covers the marina and security works around the clock.

The marina itself is open 24/7. The marina office keeps shorter hours: 08:30–17:30 Monday to Friday and 08:30–12:00 on Saturday. Guests joining a charter rarely need the office, but it is worth knowing if you are handling anything administrative.

Royal Phuket Marina has 100 berths and takes vessels up to 35 m — 115 feet. That ceiling explains the shape of the catalogue here: large boats, but not the very largest hulls on the island.

Where boats go from Royal Phuket Marina

The marina faces east, into the water between Phuket and the mainland, which puts two very different day trips within reach from the same berth.

Phang Nga Bay. James Bond Island, Hong, Panak and the Koh Yao islands are all in this direction. The limestone islands and the sea caves are the reason most guests pick this side of Phuket.

Phi Phi. This is the second standard run from Royal Phuket Marina, and Google users search for it by name. Phi Phi Leh, Maya Bay and the anchorages around Phi Phi Don are a full-day trip rather than a half-day one. How long the crossing takes depends on the boat — a fast hull and a large flybridge yacht do not run at the same speed — so the schedule comes from the captain once the boat is chosen.
