How to choose a Phuket yacht for a large group
Start with the licensed day capacity. The number in the specification on each yacht's page is the legal limit for a day trip, and the captain will not take more, however roomy the boat looks. Then match the layout to the plan: how many guests can sit in shade, how easily people get into the water for a swim, whether older guests and children can move around the deck. A wide catamaran often suits a mixed family group better than a longer motor yacht with narrow side decks, and a quieter boat with a saloon to dine in suits a dinner cruise better than an open speedboat.
Every charter is priced per boat, not per guest: the rate covers the group up to the headcount shown on each yacht's page. Some yachts include a set number of guests in the base rate and charge per extra guest above it, so send the exact headcount with your enquiry. Phuket yachts for about 10 guests
A group of ten has the widest choice, and the cheapest fit is not a boat built for ten: a sailing catamaran licensed for twenty costs less than any motor yacht, because the rate is per boat. The yachts below are the ones sized for ten to fifteen, for guests who want speed, privacy or a sportier day. Azimut Atlantis 50ft cruises at twenty knots and is a day boat only, which makes it the pick for an itinerary with several stops at Racha or Maithon Island. Bertram 50ft takes thirteen by day and six overnight in a king cabin and two twins. What a luxury yacht costs for the whole group: totals for 15, 20 and 30 guests
The tables above show the starting price of each boat. For yachts from ฿100,000 a day the published rate covers a fixed number of guests, and every guest above that number is charged at the rate printed on the yacht's page. The three tables below add that surcharge to the lowest-season rate of each yacht's full-day programme, so the figure in the last column is the price for the whole yacht with the whole group on board. For 15 guests the lowest total is ฿125,000 (Lobster 78); for 20 guests ฿125,000 (Lobster 78); for 30 guests ฿125,000 (Lobster 78). Our three yachts, Technema 89 Say Yes, Ferretti 80 Sofia and Beluga 88, take 12 guests in the rate and charge ฿2,000 (Say Yes, Sofia) or ฿3,000 (Beluga 88) for each guest above twelve. Yachts whose page gives no surcharge rule, and yachts whose day limit is below the group, are not in these tables: for them a manager calculates the total. Two things change the total on the day: the season (the high and peak rates of each yacht are on its page) and the route, because a few yachts publish a fuel surcharge for Phi Phi or Krabi. Half-day programmes, where a yacht has them, use the same extra-guest rate on a lower base. Bookings for peak-season dates (20 December – 20 January) on our three yachts are non-refundable.
Motor yacht, power catamaran or sailing catamaran for a large group?
- Motor yacht: speed, privacy and the classic luxury motor yacht feel; best when the plan has several stops.
- Power catamaran: stability and wide social decks; best for mixed ages and swimming days.
- Sailing catamaran: among the lowest costs per head for a big group and the most relaxed pace.

A day charter is the simplest format for Coral Island, Maithon, Racha or Phang Nga Bay; the full list is on the destinations page. A sunset cruise suits a party that wants the evening rather than the islands, with time to relax at anchor. Overnight and multi-day trips, including the Similan Islands in their open season from mid-October to mid-May, need the sleeping capacity, cabin plan, galley, meals and route limits checked for the specific yacht before anything else.
What the price in Thai baht (THB) includes for a group
Every boat we offer comes with a licensed captain and crew, passenger insurance, water and soft drinks, snorkel gear and towels, plus fuel for the agreed route except where a yacht's page lists a fuel fee. Lunch, alcohol, the hotel transfer and water toys such as paddle boards or a kayak depend on the yacht and are listed on its page; a sound system, a welcome drink and the other amenities for a party must be confirmed for the selected boat. National park fees at Phi Phi and in Ao Phang Nga, and the landing fee at Banana Beach on Coral Island, are paid per person on arrival except on boats whose page lists them in the rate; the parks revise their rates from time to time, so we confirm the current figures with your quote. VAT is already inside every figure on this site, so ask for one final total in THB for your date, route, hours and guest count, and never compare a sunset price with an eight-hour one. Day trip routes from Phuket, Thailand: islands to explore with a large group
Coral Island and Maithon Island are the closest to Chalong, so the group spends more time in the water and less travelling. Racha Yai is known for clear water and suits a swimming and snorkelling day, and Racha Noi is the emptier, rockier neighbour; for qualified divers a private diving programme can be arranged in advance, subject to the route, sea conditions and confirmation of the instructor. Koh Khai and Naka are on the route list of Ao Po boats such as Sambuca and suit a slower cruise. Phi Phi needs more cruising time and a higher fuel allowance, and Maya Bay access depends on the national park's current rules. Phang Nga Bay is the scenic itinerary: limestone islands, sheltered water, the lagoon at Koh Hong and James Bond Island, with Ao Po the natural start; the Krabi side, with Hong Island, Chicken Island and Railay, is a long day from Ao Po, and the Similan Islands belong to multi-day trips. At reefs the captain picks up a mooring buoy and never anchors on coral; longer trips across the Andaman Sea require an additional weather and fuel check, and the captain has the final say on the day, afloat or ashore. Is the price per guest or per boat?
Per boat, not per guest: the rate covers the group up to the headcount shown on each yacht's page. Several yachts include a set number of guests in the base rate and charge per extra guest: on Say Yes twelve guests are included and each additional guest is ฿2,000, up to thirty. The figure per guest is simply the rate divided by your group.
Can we bring food and drinks, or book catering?
Lunch is part of the day on many yachts and the boat's page says whether it is included. Catering beyond the standard lunch, a private chef and alcohol are booked through us before the day, and the prices depend on the boat. Whether you may bring drinks of your choice also depends on the boat, so ask when you enquire.
Can we have music, a DJ or decorations on board?
A sound system has to be confirmed for the selected boat, and a DJ or live musician can be brought aboard on some yachts if arranged in advance. Decorations are agreed per boat: what may be fixed to the deck and who takes it down afterwards. What deposit do we pay for a group booking?
It depends on the boat. Most boats take a 50% deposit with the balance before departure; some boats are paid in full at booking; late cancellation is non-refundable. The exact terms for the yacht you choose are on its page and on the terms page, and we spell them out in the offer before you pay.
Which type is best for families, celebrations or corporate groups?
Families usually do best on a power or sailing catamaran: a steady deck, space for children and easy access to the water. A birthday or a wedding celebration suits a motor yacht with a proper saloon and sound system. Corporate groups of thirty or more go for a large power catamaran or a superyacht where the crew, chef and entertainment areas carry the day.
Can a group of 40 or 50 people go out on one boat?
Yes. Fortuna 55 is licensed for fifty, Whisky 48 and Satisfaction 55 for forty, and the power catamarans Indigo 53 Super Mario and Scallobs 65 take fifty-five and sixty; see the table for larger groups above. Tell us the headcount and the occasion and we send the boats with space to spare.
How much does a luxury yacht cost for 20 people in Phuket?
From ฿125,000 for the whole yacht on Lobster 78 (40 guests in the rate, so 20 fit without a surcharge). On our three yachts a full day for 20 guests comes to ฿156,000 on Technema 89 Say Yes or Ferretti 80 Sofia (฿140,000 for 12 guests plus 8 × ฿2,000) and ฿238,000 on Beluga 88 (฿214,000 plus 8 × ฿3,000), lowest season.
