Phuket or Thap Lamu departures?
Booking location and boarding location differ. TAT identifies Thap Lamu and nearby piers in Phang Nga, near Khao Lak, as common departure points for day tours. A Phuket hotel pickup can therefore include a road transfer before the boat crossing.

Confirm the departure marina and realistic timing for your vessel. Do not apply a speedboat crossing time to a motor yacht or sailing catamaran.
National park season and access
The Tourism Authority of Thailand lists the usual visitor season as 15 October to 15 May. August falls outside that window. Check the current opening announcement before committing to travel; the seasonal calendar does not guarantee access on a particular date.
Mu Ko Similan National Park controls permitted visits. Ask who arranges entry requirements and national park fees. Park rangers control access even during high season; a private charter cannot bypass a low season closure. If your dates fall outside the season, ask about Phang Nga Bay or Phi Phi instead, with a separate weather and route check.
Choosing a boat and cabins
Compare motor yachts and sailing catamarans by sleeping capacity, shade, bathrooms and time underway. For families, discuss children's ages, suitable lifejackets, boarding steps and dietary needs. Day capacity is not overnight capacity.

What does a charter cost?
A Similan Islands yacht charter needs a complete written quotation in Thai baht (THB). There is no single price covering every boat, duration and departure point. A nearby-island day rate multiplied by two is not a reliable total.
Check vessel hire, crew, route fuel, transfers, meals, drinking water, park charges, activities and any taxes or additional fees. Our inclusions guide is a starting point; the boat-specific quotation decides. Beluga's overnight charters exclude chef and meals. Do not carry full-day lunch inclusions into a multi-day booking.
Beaches, snorkelling and diving
Koh Similan has the Sail Rock viewpoint; Koh Miang offers beach visits where permitted. For time in the main archipelago, tell the team whether you prefer snorkelling, scuba diving or unhurried time aboard. Ask which snorkeling spots suit your group's confidence and the conditions.
The underwater world includes coral reefs and a variety of fish species. Underwater visibility and sea conditions vary; neither crystal clear water nor a particular wildlife sighting is guaranteed. A private yacht does not automatically include dive equipment or an instructor. Confirm these separately and follow the crew's briefing around marine life.

Questions before you reserve
Can I charter overnight in the national park?
An overnight yacht charter to the Similan Islands can be planned, subject to the chosen vessel, current park rules and approved overnight stops. Confirm mooring buoys or other permitted overnight arrangements with our team. Sleeping aboard and staying ashore are different: TAT states that overnight stays on the islands are not allowed.
What about ten days?
There is no standard ten-day Similan itinerary for every yacht. Ask for a day-by-day travel itinerary showing transit legs, permitted stops, activities and a weather allowance. Avoid booking a generic island list as a confirmed route.
Is a day trip possible?
Mainland-based day excursions are a separate format. For a private yacht departing Phuket, Horizon plans the Similan route over multiple days. Specify your format when requesting a quotation.
