About this boat
Riva is the name people recognise before they know anything else about a boat, and Aria Blue is the only one in this fleet. The Italian yard has been building since long before most of its competitors existed, and its yachts are drawn by designers rather than assembled from a parts list — the hull line, the way the flybridge sits, the proportions of the salon. On a seventy-foot yacht from 2003 that heritage is the reason to choose her over a newer boat of the same size and price. Sixteen guests by day, six overnight in three air-conditioned cabins, a crew of three, cruising at sixteen knots.
The layout runs from a spacious flybridge through an elegant salon to an aft dining area, with Wi-Fi, televisions and indoor and outdoor sound. A thirty-horsepower tender is aboard along with an inflatable pool, a jet ski, kayaks on the Phang Nga tours, paddleboards, a SUBLUE Navbow underwater scooter, fishing and snorkelling gear — a generous list. From Ao Po Grand Marina the itineraries cover Phang Nga Bay, Koh Hong, the Koh Yao islands, Krabi and Phi Phi. Ninety-nine thousand baht a day, which for a Riva of this size is the surprise.
She suits guests who care what a boat is as well as what it does. She is not the choice if you want a brand-new interior or the fastest passage available. One consideration worth raising before you book a yacht of this vintage: a hull from the early two-thousands has been maintained rather than replaced, and small signs of age are part of the deal at this price. What has not aged is the design, and that is the half most guests came for.
