How the totals are built
A charter rate covers the boat, the crew and a number of guests; above that number each boat charges a fixed amount per person. Sofia and Say Yes include 12 and charge ฿2,000 for each further guest, so twenty on board is ฿175,000 + 8 × ฿2,000. Ocean Pearl 42 includes 10 and charges ฿800, Prada 50 includes 10 and charges ฿1,000, Fortuna 55 includes 25, so twenty guests pay the rate as published. Where the group is above the boat's maximum the boat is not offered. What is in the rate (lunch, soft drinks, snorkelling gear, fuel for the published route) is listed on each card and differs by boat.
How long the crossing takes
The crossing takes about an hour and a half each way on a fast hull. The speedboats and the Ocean Pearl are the fastest on the route at 25 to 30 knots; the power catamarans run at 12 to 17 knots; Sofia holds fourteen knots and Say Yes eleven, which is why their Phi Phi day is planned as nine hours with an earlier start. A sailing catamaran at seven knots does not make Phi Phi a day trip, and only the St Anna publishes it, as a 09:00–19:00 long day.
What the day looks like
Phi Phi Leh first, while Maya Bay and the Pileh lagoon are quiet, then Phi Phi Don for lunch and swimming; boats with a nine or ten hour day add Bamboo Island or Maiton on the way back.
